Shomer Negiah: Guarding Touch
There is tradition in Judaism that members of the opposite gender do not touch one another, except for immediate family members or husband and wife. To help the bride and groom remain focused on each other as well as on the holiness of the day, we request that male guests do not touch (i.e. shake hands, hug, pat on the back, etc.) the bride and that female guests do not touch the groom. We are very appreciative of your respect for our customs.
